The Cabot School Gym is undergoing a face lift. A larger than expected group of volunteers are donating time and some supplies to refresh our beloved gymnasium. A girls varsity basketball player commented that, when visiting teams come here to play, their impression of the school is influenced by the image of our gym. We want everyone to think we have a good school, and a good-looking gym is important. Other volunteers noted that both the school and the town will benefit from the improvements to the gym. The town utilizes the gym for major town events, such as festivals and town meeting.
Work started the week of November 7, with a thorough cleaning from the foot boards to the ceiling. With ladders and scaffolding here and there, the first coats of paint were applied on Sunday, November 13. New padding for the ends of the court have been ordered, and the new colors will make the gym look brighter. Most of the work must be done in the evenings, but progress has been surprisingly fast. The hope is to have most of the painting done before the first home basketball game. Despite all the work, activities in the gym are going on as scheduled.
